SEMESTER

PERIOD: 1 February – 30 June
PURPOSE:
CONTENTS:
A project will usually contain elements of both image analysis and
computer graphics and thus focus on the interaction between these
elements.
An example could be tracking and monitoring of a person's facial
expressions
and /or movements in video images for the use of animation of a
visualized
virtual 3D character. The project work is based on a specific problem
within
the specialization. It is of great importance that the problem contains
both specific, practical, and general theoretical aspects. The problem
and its possible solutions are analysed, and the theoretical
basis
is studied. Existing methods are evaluated, modified, and combined into
a model of solution of the problem. A model addressing the most
important
elements of the problem is set up, and the model (or central elements
of
it) is implemented and tested in the laboratory.
COURSES:
Courses will be given in methods and techniques of image analysis.
EXAM:
The external oral examination is based on the prepared project
documentation.
Each student is marked according to the 13 scale.
PERIOD: 1 September – 31 January
PURPOSE:
CONTENTS:
The project is based on a concrete problem in Computer Vision and
Graphics.
It is of great importance that the problem contains both specific,
practical,
and general theoretical aspects. The problem and its possible solutions
are analysed, and the theoretical basis is studied and extended.
Existing
methods are evaluated, modified, and combined into a model of solution
of the problem. A model addressing the most important elements of
the problem is set up, and the model (or central elements of it) is
implemented
and tested in the laboratory. In a typical project the vision
system
is part of a perception action connection, which means that from an
analysis
of the visual information (perception) the system decides to make an
action.
This action leads to new visual information, which is analysed etc.
etc.
COURSES:
Courses will be given in the fields of computer vision, vision
controlled robots, medical image analysis, virtual reality, and
multimedia.
EXAM:
The internal oral examination is based on the prepared project
documentation.
Each student is marked according to the 13 scale.
